Wausau Academy of Dance recognized that dancing is important to many children who think of the art form as more than an interest, and consider dance a main focus. The studio offers two levels of time and competition commitment options for their competitive teams, called the Spark And Strive groups.

Strive is for dancers whose main activity is dance. Strive dancers compete in multiple competitions throughout the year, to various locations throughout the Midwest. Group participants have most classes exclusively with other Strive members. Groups are determined by auditions and placement is based on several factors including: ability, flexibility, age, the ability to pick up on choreography, and other components.
