Wausau Academy of Dance recognized that dancing is important to many children who think of the art form as more than an interest, and view dance as a main focus. The studio offers two levels of time and competition commitment options for their competitive teams, called the Spark and Strive groups for interested students.

Spark was designed to provide flexibility. Spark is an ideal choice for dancers who are involved in another sport activity at school, or those who want to perform more than at the recital. Students will have one or two Spark member only classes throughout the year, and are also required take two or more other dance classes from the studio that are not designated Spark only group courses.

Spark teams are determined from auditions that occur in June.  Placement is determined by:  skill level, age, the ability to pick up on choreography, maturity and other factors. The studio requires that Spark students attend one of the summer offerings.

Spark teams perform! This group will attend two or three competitions, excluding the nationals level. Additionally, Spark members have dances in our winter holiday fundraising show, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”
